Shabbat

Shir Hadash Reconstructionist Community meets to celebrate Shabbat in a variety of ways:

Dinners are held the first Friday evening of the month, usually in a community member's home.

Services are on the 2nd and 4th Shabbat of the month and are held at St. Louis Hillel at Washington University beginning at 10am.

Shabbat Learning is the 3rd Shabbat of the month at St. Louis Hillel at Washington University beginning at 10am.

SHABBAT DINNERS

Our community meets for dinner monthly, usually at the home of a member.  We eat, talk and learn together in a family Shabbat environment.  Most meals are pot luck, all are vegetarian.

Summer 2010 Shabbat Dinners will be on:

June 4

August 6

As a courtesy to our home hosts, RSVP is required to attend Shabbat dinners. Please contact us by the Monday before the dinner if you wish to attend.

For more information, contact Rabbi Lane Steinger (314) 991-7972 or rabstein@sbcglobal.net.

SHABBAT LEARNING

Once monthly we meet on Shabbat morning to learn together.  This is a wonderful opportunity to share ideas and develop our identity as a community of learners.

We alternate months:  a chapter from Exploring Judaism and then a book or other reading of Jewish interest.  Please check our Calendar for details.

In Summer 2010 we will meet on the following dates:

June 19

August 21

In June, we continue with Chapter 4 of Exploring Judaism: A Reconstructionist Approach by Rebecca T. Alpert and Jacob J. Staub.

In August we will discuss The Last Ember by Daniel Levin.

For more information, contact Rabbi Lane Steinger (314) 991-7972 or rabstein@sbcglobal.net.
