We’ll continue our exploration of Adam Kirsch’s The People and the Books. Stan Vriezelaar will lead our discussion of chapter two, "In The Kingdom of Chance." In this chapter Kirsch examines the Book of Esther with its themes that are central to Jewish history: the precariousness of Jewish life in the Diaspora and the accommodations Jews must make to survive as an often-suspect minority.
