Shir Hadash Reconstructionist Community meets to celebrate Shabbat in a variety of ways.

  • Shabbat Dinners are held the first Friday evening of the month, usually in a community member's home. We eat, talk and learn together in a family Shabbat environment. Most meals are pot luck, all have fish, vegetarian, and vegan options. As a courtesy to our home hosts, RSVP is required. Please contact us by the Monday before the dinner if you wish to attend.
  • Shabbat Morning Services are on the second and fourth Shabbat of the month at the JCC Arts & Education Buildingbeginning at 10 AM. Our services are serious prayer in a relaxed, participative community. All are welcome as we pray together and discuss the week's Torah portion. We are known for our lively Torah discussions!
  • Shabbat Learning is the third Shabbat of the month at the JCC Arts & Education Building beginning at 10 AM. On the months there is a fifth Shabbat there will be a learning program also . This is a wonderful opportunity to share ideas and develop our intellects. Sometimes we discuss fiction, sometimes nonfiction, sometimes a biblical passage or interesting Jewish rite. But it's always fascinating and fun. Please check our events calendar for details of upcoming topics.

Listen to some of our Shabbat melodies recorded by Rabbi Ari Hendin.
